Members of the Ely Tri Club took part in the Edinborugh marathon festival and raised £638.75 in aid of the Lisa Barnes Memorial Fund/Arthur Rank Hospice, the 5 members of the local Triathlon club all posted great results in what was very hot conditions. We are fast approaching the deadline for businesses to become involved in NEXT YEARS yes NEXT YEARS CALANDAR GIRLS CALANDAR. I am looking for five more businesses to each sponsor a month the total cost for a month will be £300.00. This amount will pay for the art work, the design and production costs which will mean EACH CALANDAR SOLD will be ALL PROFIT for the fund. Each sponsor will be able to advertise their company for a month. This years calandar sold 1,200 copies and netted Lisa’s Fund more than £10,000.
The Lisa Barnes Memorial Fund was launched on 28th October 2010 to raise £100,000 for The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity who are dedicated to providing specialist palliative care and support to adult patients, their family, friends and carers in much of Cambridgeshire. The fund has so far reached a staggering £43.000.

The Anglia Regional Co-operative Society Ltd. Store at Wisbech Road Littleport has announced they have chosen Lisa’s fund, which raises money for The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, as their Charity of the year.
Chris Wright the store manager announced the staff themselves choose the charity they think most worthy, and one they feel they could help in the coming year.
Robert Barnes who launched the Lisa Barnes Memorial Fund in October 2010 said he was delighted, he went on, ‘I have had my first meeting with Chris Wright and other members of the team and they are all very keen to help’ he continued, ‘Lisa’s Fund has now reached a staggering £42,000 but there is still a long way to go to reach the target of £100,000 but we are getting there. The Co-op’s support for the next year will be a great boost and I know they will do all they can to help the fund along.’

Emma Goldsack completed the London Marathon raising £1,500.00 for Lisa’s Fund. Emma a recruitment consultant from Soham has been a great supporter of Lisas Fund right from the outset, she is also one of this years Calendar Girls. Robert Barnes commented, ‘Emma has become a firm friend during the last few months and all she is doing for Lisa’s Fund is quite breath taking, I cannot thank her enough for her courage and commitment she is a wonderful lady. All the money raised is going to the Arthur Rank Hospice Chairty.’ Robert hopes to raise £100.000 in Lisa’s name, since its launch in October 2010 we have managed to raise £44,000.
One of our fundraising team Gemma Beckett from Soham is organising a Sky Dive Event for Lisa’s Fund on Saturday 18th August. Gemma who works at Chatterbox in Churchgate Street Soham has recruited six others to do the skydive with her. The skydive will take place in Norwich, Gemma said “Now the date has been set everyone is very excited, we just want to raise as much as we can before hand and go for it. All the money raised will go to the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.” Continue reading
