Co-Operative Foodstore Wisbech Road Littleport offers to help Lisa’s fund

The Anglia Regional Co-operative Society Ltd. Store at Wisbech Road Littleport has announced they have chosen Lisa’s fund, which raises money for The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, as their Charity of the year.

Chris Wright the store manager announced the staff themselves choose the charity they think most worthy, and one they feel they could help in the coming year.

Robert Barnes who launched the Lisa Barnes Memorial Fund in October 2010 said he was delighted, he went on, ‘I have had my first meeting with Chris Wright and other members of the team and they are all very keen to help’ he continued, ‘Lisa’s Fund has now reached a staggering £42,000 but there is still a long way to go to reach the target of £100,000 but we are getting there. The Co-op’s support for the next year will be a great boost and I know they will do all they can to help the fund along.’

Robert is interviewed by Richard Spendlove on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. Robert talks about Lisa’s final days at the Arthur Rank Hospice and the care and kindness they both received during that time. Robert speaks of his life changing experience which prompted him to set up the Lisa Barnes Memorial Fund and lists many events and acts of generosity that have boosted the fund which now stands at an amazing £22,000. With a target of £100,000 Robert was able to announce some of his coming events, such as the Rock and Roll night on Saturday and the cyclethon in Ely market details of which can be found on this website.

Each Jam Jar will holds more than £60 pounds when filled with 20 pence pieces. It may take you a few weeks or it may take you a year. All we ask is that you keep filling it and when it’s full, we can pick it up or you can return it to any of the collection points below. Alternatively you can send a cheque for the amount you have saved made out to the Lisa Barnes Memorial Fund

Mountain Climb in the Lake District walking for the fund Friday 18th June 2011

Congratulations Thomas Jones – Store Manager of Mountain Warehouse Ely, completed his charity mountain trail in the lake district for the fund. He braved mount Helvellyn on Friday 18^th June, and then went on to climb Scarfell Pike. Thank you Tom and thanks to everyone who sponsored him. Jam Jars and Street Collections.

Street Collection

So far we have had a fantastic response to our Jam Jar Appeal. The aim is simple, take home a jam jar, fill it with 20p pieces and you’ll soon be on your way to doing your bit for the fund! The jam jars are printed with instructions of what to do once you’ve filled it and you can pick up yours from our street collections or one of our jam jar points from 12th Feb, which are;
