Former Sunday School Superintendent Donates to Lisa’s fund Saturday 28th April 2012

Mr Ernie Barlow from Mepal held his belated 75th birthday party for Lisa’s Fund on Saturday 28th April. Mr.Barlow a former Sunday School Superintendent at Mepal became very ill just before his 75th birthday on October 31st 2011, but vowed one day to hold a party for Lisa’s Fund. Mr. Barlow now almost fully recovered knew Lisa many years ago when the family lived in Mepal and Lisa took her sons to Sunday School. He said ‘She was a lovely lady and a very good mother to her two boys Matthew and Steven.’ Mr Barlow said, ‘At 75 what do I need in the way of gifts, nothing, but Lisa’s fund is doing such a great job raising money for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in Cambridge,’ he said, ‘they do need the money’.

Robert Barnes attended the party and commented, ‘Ernie is just one of those special people who has always put others before himself and I feel honoured he has chosen Lisa’s Fund.’Around eighty people attended and enjoyed live music from the band “New Life” who came and played for no fee. A grand total of £730.00 was raised and Robert thanked Ernie and his guests.

… spare a thought for the eighteen walkers from the Co-Opertive supermarket Wisbech Road Branch in Littleport who walked from Parkers Piece in Cambridge to their supermarket in Littleport to raise money for Lisa’s Fund. Store Manager, Chris Wright led his team on the 25 mile walk, he said he was so pleased with their performance, although the last 5 miles where very difficult we all helped each other, they did a great job team building, and they all returned very tired a bit emotional and very happy having achieved their goal.

The supermarket has recently taken Lisa’s fund as their charity of the year and intend to hold more events.

Robert Barnes who launched the fund in October 2010 greeted them all on their return, he said they looked tired and where very pleased they were home. What they have achieved today will be a great help to The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in Cambridge, I am raising £100.000 for the Charity. Money raised to date is £44,000.

Chris said he hoped todays walk will raise between £1,300 and £1,500 for Lisa’s Fund.

We are fast approaching the deadline for businesses to become involved in NEXT YEARS yes NEXT YEARS CALANDAR GIRLS CALANDAR. I am looking for five more businesses to each sponsor a month the total cost for a month will be £300.00. This amount will pay for the art work, the design and production costs which will mean EACH CALANDAR SOLD will be ALL PROFIT for the fund. Each sponsor will be able to advertise their company for a month. This years calandar sold 1,200 copies and netted Lisa’s Fund more than £10,000.

The Lisa Barnes Memorial Fund was launched on 28th October 2010 to raise £100,000 for The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity who are dedicated to providing specialist palliative care and support to adult patients, their family, friends and carers in much of Cambridgeshire. The fund has so far reached a staggering £43.000.

Emma Goldsack runs the Marathon for Lisa’s fund 22nd April 2012 and raises £1500

Emma Goldsack completed the London Marathon raising £1,500.00 for Lisa’s Fund. Emma a recruitment consultant from Soham has been a great supporter of Lisas Fund right from the outset, she is also one of this years Calendar Girls. Robert Barnes commented, ‘Emma has become a firm friend during the last few months and all she is doing for Lisa’s Fund is quite breath taking, I cannot thank her enough for her courage and commitment she is a wonderful lady. All the money raised is going to the Arthur Rank Hospice Chairty.’ Robert hopes to raise £100.000 in Lisa’s name, since its launch in October 2010 we have managed to raise £44,000.
