To celebrate the sixth anniversary of Lisa’s Fund, two of the volunteer fundraising team decided to do a little celebrating of their own. Jade Shepherd from Ely and Ernie Barlow from Mepal decided on a joint birthday party. Jade who is thirty and Ernie who is eighty asked the guests to bring along donations for Lisa’s Fund in place of presents.
The whole evening was a great success with everyone having a good time said Robert Barnes founder of Lisa’s Fund, Lisa always enjoyed a party and this seems such a fitting way to celebrate the sixth anniversary. “As the evening drew to a close I was amazed when Ernie announced the overall amount raised on the evening was £1,985.00. Ernie, not liking odd numbers, added another £15.00 making a grand total of £2,000.00. Two very kind people celebrating with their friends have tonight made a huge difference to the patients using the facilities at the Hospice” said Robert, “I cannot thank you all enough”.
Robert would also like to take this opportunity to thank the army of volunteers who have always been there lending a hand helping make Lisa’s Fund the success it is today. Robert said that he remembered in the beginning saying we would raise £100,000 but once the ball is rolling it seems almost impossible to stop, plus the need is even greater and will continue to be so.
Our new Hospice is now complete, two weeks ahead of schedule and on budget, with the first patients expected to move in on 14th November, it will be double the size of Mill Road and is the most up to date Hospice in the country, therefore fundraising will need to continue.
Lisa’s Fund has managed to raise a staggering £146,000 in the last six years.
